Space Frame/Space Structure in Auditoriums

The auditorium industry has grown with economic expansion and urban development. The auditorium structure has set a new bar for high-performance space frame building with lighting fixtures, partition walls and other services to provide a variety of configuration to these structures. Auditoriums are built in a variety of sizes based on its use, such as

·        Theatres
·        Conferences
·        Meeting Halls
·        Wedding Halls etc.

Often these structures are massive with high loads which are suspended from the roofs to facilitate the acoustical requirement and insulation of the halls. In traditional construction the amount of steel and concrete that go in building a single auditorium is significant.

Space Frame Technology in Auditorium structures:

Earlier, the design of different types of auditoriums had become a complex issue in addition to its various, sometimes conflicting, aesthetics, technical, artistic and economical requirements. The introduction of Alcox space frame technology in auditorium structures not only offers large span roofing with minimal supports but the complex joints also enable the architects to have wider geometrical options. The components of the space frame are usually produced with high dimensional accuracy and high quality of versatile surface finish.

Space frame or space structure technology also assists these structures with its resistance to damage from high wind gusts, explosions or seismic activity. Auditoriums often use heavy insulation as well as acoustics which make the roof heavy and vulnerable to structural stresses, however with precise design techniques and three-dimensional geometry, space structure proves to be more sturdy offering minimal deflections and much-reduced stresses during critical loadings.
